What is Marriage Mentoring?

Simply put, marriage mentoring is defined as one husband and wife spending a few hours each month with another husband and wife, identifying each spouse's roles in the marriage, modeling behavior and teaching new skills, all from a biblical perspective.  

Many people today believe it's crazy to think ordinary people, having overcome the trials of their marriage, can help another couple who may be struggling in theirs. Other couples who have been married for years have convinced themselves they have nothing to offer because their marriage is not perfect. Marriage Mentors is proving this way of thinking to simply not be true. For years now, God has used ordinary people in extraordinary ways to accomplish His will in the marriage of another couple. How? Through mentoring relationships.

We train and equip husbands and wives who are passionate about enriching and saving marriages in their local church. Mentor couples receive pre-workshop materials, which include a 42 minute DVD presentation detailing the mentoring structure and process as well as 2 "Devoted" workbooks within three weeks of attending training. Couples then participate in a one-day workshop where they learn how to impart the Word of God, lessons learned from their life experiences, and mentoring skills to another couple through interactive methods.

Regardless why your visiting our site, you obvious have a desire to know more about what we do. Marriage Mentors began in 2003. We exist to partner with churches everywhere, helping them strengthen the families within their church by training marriage mentors. Then we provide ongoing support to mentors through this interactive website in the form of articles, books, and forums found in a password protected area available to trained and certified mentor couples. 

Our mentoring process does not simply consist of one or two small workbooks with attractive covers. Future mentors receive the "Mentors' Resource Kit." The kit includes a practical workbook called "Devoted," which is the hub of the mentoring process.

Other resources included are the "Mentors Resource Guide." which explains each step of the process, our unique communication tools, prayer guides, daily devotion guides, instructions for using a marital assessment, and monthly editions of continuing education called the "Mentors Monthly."
